Details on [mo]re than a run & KXTC's end of year party, plus race weekend recaps from Sydney and Melbourne
[mo]re than a run
On the 25th of November, Kings Cross Track Club will participate in [mo]re than a run in support of mental health.
All distances correspond with important statistics around men’s mental health. We’ll be setting off and ending up at Centennial Park (at this pond, specifically). Sign up to the event here and create your own personal fundraising page via this link.
End of year party
Keep your calendar’s free on the 9th of December as KXTC will be having its End of Year party at Reg Bartley Oval in Rushcutters Bay.
It was a great afternoon last year - come on down from 3pm to connect with the crew, and celebrate 2023.
Who: All crew new and old welcome. Bring your partners, friends, family and doggos.
Subspace Recap + Sydney Marathon
All hands were on deck for this year’s edition of Subspace. Supported by On and Coffee Supreme, run crews from across Australia and New Zealand descended on Sydney for a celebration of run crew culture.
Hosted at the Blank Gallery, Subspace opened its doors to the public for opening night on the 14th of September.
A series of events around the theme ‘On Transit’ were to follow over the next few days.
There was ‘Neck Pillow’, a mindful meditation practice led by Ursula Griffen from remind.nz.
A ‘Cruise Control’ shakeout run.
A delicious breakfast in Chinatown.
And finally,
… the actual race.
With it being the hottest day of the year thus far, our cheer zone turned into a de facto water station for the runners braving the heat as the sun reached its peak.
We celebrated with a banging after party, headlined by Jonti from Stones Throw Records.
Melb Mara Recap
by Delian Entchev
In mid-October a group of us bid farewell to a beautiful 30-degree Sydney weekend, and donned our beanies and winter coats for an expedition to the deep south.
It was a fun weekend of bagel brunches, shopping, board games, hide and seek, and laneway photo shoots. Carbolicious carbonara and good times were had at the Good Times Pasta Bar…. and there was a smidge of running involved too!
We limped out of the MCG on Sunday morning with big smiles and plenty of personal bests to go around.
After catching up with our run club friends at AM:PM.RC (check out @am.pm.rc if you’re in Melbourne on a Tuesday night for the social run or Thursday morning for track!), some of us kicked on at the after party, while some of us spent half an hour at lunch watching a pigeon demolish an entire shakshuka.
Talk about a photo finish!
